Student Resources

Career Resource Center

The Career Resource Center (CRC) supports students in exploring careers, provides resources to help in planning for transfer to a 4-year college, and helps students develop job search skills.

Career Exploration

NHCC students can begin their career exploration by signing up for an eDISCOVER account. eDISCOVER is a career planning program that guides students through a process of self-assessment to identify possible career areas and occupations relating to interests, abilities and values.

Contact the Career Resource Center for a unique password to get started on eDISCOVER. Then, review the eDISCOVER instructional video links on the right to guide you through the career exploration process.

Career and College Information

CRC has a variety of resources to help students make informed decisions about their career and college choices:

  • Library of career information, including college and career reference materials, and career exploration books.
  • Transfer guides for the University of Minnesota, the Minnesota State Universities, and many of the Minnesota private colleges.
  • The Minnesota Career Information System (MCIS) featuring job descriptions, salary and outlook, scholarship information, schools and training programs (NHCC students should contact CRC for username and password).

Job Search Assistance for Students and Alumni

The Career Resource Center provides job search support to students, including assistance in writing a resume and cover letter, preparing for an interview and identifying potential job leads. The Career Resource Center also offers job leads and posts vacancy notices in the CRC and a selection of openings online. Students can access placement rates for NHCC programs by reviewing the results of the graduate survey posted by the college's Office of Institutional Effectiveness.

Job Success Workshops

Job success workshops are included the college's GPS LifePlan Workshops. For current offerings visit the workshops web page at www.nhcc.edu/workshops

Job Posting Service for Employers

Employers may post job announcements online  and/or email job announcements for posting on campus to kphilbin@nhcc.edu. Both services are free. Job announcements are usually updated within 2 business days.

Job Fairs and Tabling Events

The college hosts two job fairs each year during the spring and fall semesters. The fall event will take place in October and updates together with registration materials will be posted on the job page. Employers interested in tabling on campus on alternative dates during the fall and spring semesters should contact Karen Philbin at 763-424-0707 or kphilbin@nhcc.edu.
